Cardinals Defeat Northern Michigan, 2-0

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team defeated Northern Michigan, 2-0 today (Oct. 21) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest.

Senior Amanda Kady (Macomb, Mich. / Eisenhower HS) gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead over the Wildcats when she found the back of the net on a cross shot. Saginaw Valley would take a 2-0 advantage when Northern Michigan would score on their own keeper.

The Cardinal defense and goaltender Laura Ivezaj (Rochester, Mich.) kept Northern Michigan to only one shot on goal in the entire 90 minutes of play.

With the win Saginaw Valley improves to 6-6-2 overall on the season, and 5-6-2 in the GLIAC, while Northern Michigan falls to 8-5-3 overall on the season, and 6-5-2 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will be back in action on Sunday (Oct. 23) when they travel to Michigan Tech. Game time is scheduled for noon.
