Painesville, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team defeated Lake Erie College, 1-0 today (Oct. 14)  in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest.

The game remained scoreless until ten minutes into the second half of play when freshman Olivia Perrin (Cadillac, Mich.) scored from five feet out on the right side off a pass from senior Sam Echols (Wolverline Lake, Mich. / Wallled Lake Central HS) allowing the Cardinals to defeat the Storm 1-0.

Freshman goaltender Laura Ivezaj (Rochester, Mich.) and the Saginaw Valley defense held Lake Erie to no shots on goal for the entire 90 minutes of play.

With the win the Cardinals improve to 5-6-1 overall on the season, 4-6-1 in the GLIAC, while Lake Erie falls 1-12-1 overall on the season, and 0-10 in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley will be back in action on Sunday (Oct. 15) when they travel to Ashland. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
