Cardinals Defeated by #15 Grand Valley, 1-0 in Double Overtime

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell 1-0 in double overtime to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival #15 Grand Valley State University today (Sept. 11).

The Cardinals and the Lakers were both unable to capitilize on any of their shots through the first 90 minutes of regualtion play taking a 0-0 tie into the first overtime. Senior Amanda Kady (Macomb, MIch. / Eisenhower HS) took the only shot in the first overtime but was not successful sending the contest into a second overtime.

The Lakers would end the game just six minutes into the second overtime when they found the back of the net on their third shot of the overtime. Freshman goaltender Laura Ivezaj (Rochester Hills, Mich.) suffered her second loss of the season making her 2-2 overall, and 1-2 in the GLIAC.

With the loss Saginaw Valley falls to 2-2 overall on the season, and 1-2 in the GLIAC, while Grand Valley improves to 1-2 overall on the season, and 1-0 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will return to action on Friday (Sept. 16) when they travel to Tiffin. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
