Saginaw Valley Falls to Ferris State, 3-1

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell to Ferris State 3-1 today (Sept. 9) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest.

The Cardinals fell behind early in the first half of play when Ferris State scored just 15:36 into the match. Saginaw Valley answered back just seven minutes later when freshman Kali Barry (Mason, Mich.) found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Kellsey Poston (New Boston, Mich. / Huron HS) knotting the score at 1-1. The Cardinals would take the tie into the second half of play.

The Bulldogs went up 2-1 over Saginaw Valley when Bri Borgman scored her second goal of the contest. Ferris State would go up 3-1 when they scored the final goal with just seconds left in the game handing Saginaw Valley their first loss of the season. Freshman goaltender Laura Ivezaj suffered her first loss making her 2-1 overall.

With the loss Saginaw Valley falls to 2-1 overall on the season, and 1-1 in the GLIAC, while Ferris State improves to 1-2 overall on the season and 1-0 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will be back in action on Sunday (Sept. 11) when they travel to #1 Grand Valley. The game is scheduled to start at noon.
