Cardinals Defeated By Northern Michigan, 3-0

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell to Northern Michigan University today (Sept. 24), 3-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match up.

The Cardinals fell 2-0 after the first 45 minutes of play in the contest.  Saginaw Valley had five shots in the first half of play but were unable to find the back of the net.  Northern scored one more goal in the second half of play making the game 3-0.  Sophomore Charley Porter (Midland, Mich.) had five shots on goal, while freshman Kellsey Poston (New Boston, Mich. / New Boston Huron HS) had two shots on the day.

With the loss the Cardinals fall to 4-3-1 overall on the season, and 3-2-1 in the GLIAC, while Northern Michigan improves to 4-0-3 overall on the season, and 4-0-1 in the GLIAC.  Saginaw Valley returns to action when they travel to Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 26).  Game time is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
