Saginaw Valley Drops Home Opener to Quincy, 2-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team suffered a loss in their home opener today (Sept. 5) when they fell to Quincy University, 2-0.

The Cardinals fought hard through a scoreless first half but their efforts would not be enough as Quincy scored two quick goals at 77:55 and 79:47.  Sophomore Lara English (Charlotte, Mich.) put two shots on goal for Saginaw Valley, as junior goaltender Anne Berschbach (Algonac, Mich.) stopped eight shots on goal.

With the loss the Cardinals fall to 1-1 overall on the season , while Quincy improves to 1-1 on the season.  Saginaw Valley will be back in action Wednesday (Sept. 8) when they travel to Northwood University for their first GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) contest of the season.  Game time is scheduled for 2:00pm.
