UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University
women’s soccer team defeated Ashland University today (Oct.
18) 2-1 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Ahtletic Conference
(GLIAC) match-up. The win ties a school record of 12 wins in a
season for the Cardinals.
Saginaw Valley would have to fight back after Ashland got on the
board in the 34th minute of the game to give them the 1-0
advantage. Junior Amanda Kady (Macomb,
Mich. / Eisenhower HS) knotted the score in the 83rd minute to
force the game into overtime. Sophomore Samantha Echols
(Walled Lake, Mich. ) found the back of the net on a penalty kick
for her eighth goal of the season.
With the win Saginaw Valley improves to 12-1-2 overall on the
season and 9-0-2 in the GLIAC, while Ashland falls to 3-10-3
overall on the season and 0-9-2 in the GLIAC, The Cardinals will
return to action on Friday (Oct 23) when the will travel to Ferris
State at 4:00 pm.
