ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State
University women’s soccer team came up short in their effort
for the GLIAC title against No. 1 ranked Grand Valley State today
(Nov. 9).
The Cardinals lost 2-0 to the Lakers in a match where SVSU was
only able to get three shots on goal in the 90 minute contest.
Freshman goalkeeper Anne Bershbach (Algonac, Mich./Lutheran North
HS) was able to stop six of the Lakers’ eight shots on goal.
Grand Valley got on the board at the 23 minute mark to go ahead
1-0, a lead they would take into halftime.
The score remained 1-0 until the 77:20 minute mark when the Lakers
notched another goal to cap the game’s scoring at 2-0.
The loss drops the Cardinals’ record to 10-9 overall, while
Grand Valley remains undefeated with a 21-0 record.
