UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley
State University women’s soccer senior Stephanie Roy (Royal
Oak, Mich./Dondero HS) was selected to the All-GLIAC Team in
balloting conducted by the league’s coaches. Senior Kim
Oberski (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron HS) was named to the second
team.
On the season, Roy has five goals, seven assists and 17 points in
the 15 games she has played at the forward and mid-field positions.
Roy also was perfect on penalty kicks this season going 2-2. She
ripped 18 shots on goal in the 1,249 minutes she played this
season. Oberski has 11 goals, five assists and 27 points in the
forward position in the 15 games she has played in. She has 31
shots on goal in the 908 minutes she has played in this season.
The duo has helped launch the women’s soccer team into the
GLIAC Finals after finishing the regular season with an 8-8 record
overall and an 8-6 record in the GLIAC. The Cardinals have knocked
off Findlay University 3-0 on Nov. 4, and today (Nov. 7), they
knocked off Tiffin University 2-1. Oberski, Roy and the rest of the
Cardinal soccer team will return to action Sunday (Nov. 9) when
they face the winner of the Grand Valley/Ferris State match, which
is scheduled for later today.
