Women's Golf Finishes Tied Ninth in NCAA East Regional

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Golf team wrapped up NCCA East Regional play with a T9 finish to conclude their historic season. The women's team ends the season making it to the finals of GLIAC Championship Sunday for the first time in program history and also one of their highest finishes ever as a team in the NCAA East Regional.

Rachael Krieger had the best finish for the Cardinals in T17. Krieger ended her tournament shooting 72, 77, 77 for a total score of 226. Krieger carded 13 pars on the day along with 5 bogeys to finish her season. Brook Herbstreit had the best round of her tournament carding a 74 that included two birdies on the front nine. Her three day total with scores of 83, 78, and 74 was 235. Megan Thiravong also landed two birdies on her way to a final-day 78. Thiravong shot 84, 78, 78 for a three-day total of 240. Emily O'Brien rounded out the scoring for SVSU with an 83 in her final round. O'Brien's three day total was 245 with rounds of 81, 81, and 83. Megan Kozlowski rounded out the lineup for the Cardinals with a final-day score of 80. Her three rounds totaled 250 strokes with scores of 86, 84, and 80. 

The team finished the tournament ninth in par three scoring, eleventh in par four scoring, and ninth in par five scoring. The team also finished tenth in total pars made (137), ninth in total birdies made (22), and tied first in total eagles made (1, Krieger).
