Women's Golf Moves Up One Spot on Day 2 of NCAA East Regional

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team improved one place overall after day two of the NCAA East Regional. The Cardinals now sit in a tie for tenth place with a score of 634. The team improved by six strokes on day two with Rachael Kreiger leading the way again for the team. The team will round out the competition tomorrow where they will look to improve inside of the Top 10 for the week. Rachael Krieger currently sits in a great spot to qualify individually for the National Finals just nine strokes off of the lead.

Rachael Kreiger led the way on day two for the Cardinals adding to her impressive post-season. Krieger continued her streak of par five scoring on day two picking up an eagle on her 16th hole of the day on the par-five, seventh. She now holds one of the two eagles made throughout the entire tournament.

Brook Herbstreit improved on her first day score with a day-two 78. Herbstreit carded three birdies in her second round with two coming in her first five holes.

Megan Thiravong started out with six straight pars on her second round before struggling with the next three holes. However, Thiravong bounced back with three birdies in her next four holes and was able to card a 78. 

Senior, Emily O'Brien capped off her second round with an 81 putting her at a two day total of 162 tied for 53rd place overall. 

Megan Kozlowski rounded out the lineup for SVSU scoring an 84 in her second round, bringing her two day total to 170. Kozlowski birdied hole number one to start her second nine.
