Four Women's Golfers Earn All-GLIAC Honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Three members of the Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team have been awarded with all-conference honors the league office announced on Monday, May 1. Brook Herbstreit was awarded Second Team All-GLIAC, teammates Amanda Ehrlich, Emily O'Brien and Rachael Krieger were awarded with All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.

Herbstreit led the way for the Cardinals competing in all contests in the 2022-23 season. She finished T3 at the ODU Champions of Women's Golf tournament for her highest finish of the season and placed T8 the team to their first team win since October of 2019 at the Lady Bulldog Invitational. Herbstreit battled a fractured finger throughout the postseason yet still battled in the GLIAC Championships and won her match on the final day against her Ferris State Counterpart.

Ehrlich earned Honorable mention in her 2022-23 campaign by helping the team win the Lady Bulldog invitational by eight strokes. Ehrlich battled injury in the spring season and was unable to compete in the conference championships. Despite that, she was a top contender for the team and continually placed top 20 at tournaments throughout the season. Highlighting her season was a win at the Panther Invitational hosted by Davenport University shooting three-over through her two rounds.

O'Brien earned Honorable Mention in her final season with the team. O'Briend captained the team for the 2022-23 season and was a strong leader for the Lady Cardinals. Not only was she a steady contributor on the course, but is consistantly keeping team morale high off the course as well. She starred in multiple tournaments including the team's win at the Lady Bulldog invitational earlier this year.

Krieger gathered Honorable Mention honors as well. Krieger found herself in tough positions for the team in the spring season with injury plaguing teammates. Highlights from her season included a top-ten finish in the season-opening tournament in the fall where she placed T9. Krieger played a crucial role in the first-day upset of Wayne State University in the GLIAC Championships where she won her match by nine strokes and led wire-to-wire.
