Women’s Golf Sits Fourth After Round One of SVSU Spring Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Ky. The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team kicked off the first day of the SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday, March 18. The invitational hosted 17 teams from around the country including last year's national champion Findlay University. The tournament is the first of the spring for the Cardinals.  

Rachel Krieger is leading the way for SVSU and currently sits T7 after a first round 78,  shooting 39 for both of her nines. Emily O'Brien and Brooke Herbstreit sit in T11 and T21 for the Cardinals shooting 79 and 81 respectively. O'Brien highlighted her round with a tap in birdie after her pitching wedge from 115 yards out hit the flagstick. Megan Kozlowski (T45) finished her opening round with an 84, splitting her nines evenly. Megan Thiravong (T50) closed out her round shooting 85 rounding out the five for SVSU.  

The women's team sits in fourth place, 34 strokes over par, three strokes behind Tiffin University. The second round of the tournament will be a shotgun start tomorrow morning, March 19.
