FINDLAY, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team wrapped up the first tournament for the month of October on Tuesday, when the Cardinals finished in a tie for ninth place at the 17-team William Beall Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay.
The Cardinals, who had the same team score as Walsh University, shot a collective 318+314+325=957 for 72 holes. Brook Herbstreit paced SVSU on the 6,115-yard Findlay Country Club course with a 79+77+81=237, which was good for tied for 31st out of 93 individuals.
Teammates Rachael Krieger (75+79+85=239, T-38th) and Mandy Ehrlich (82+78+79=239, T-38th) were right behind Herbstreit just two shots back each.
Rounding out the SVSU lineup were Megan Kozlowski (82+80+80=242, T-43rd) and Emily O'Brien (82+80+ 85=247, T-59th).
Grand Valley State University captured the team title (898), edging the host Oilers by three strokes. Grand Valley's Olivia Stoll was the medalist with a 208.
Saginaw Valley hits the links again on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16, when they travel to Davenport Panther Invitational at Stonehedge North Golf Club in Augusta, Mich.
