Cardinals Fall To Virginia State, 61-50

ETTRICK, Va. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team fell by a score of 61-50 at Virginia State University on Friday night (11/26).  The loss drops the Cardinals to 1-2 overall while the Trojans improve to 3-0 overall.  The game was part of the 2010 Chick-Fil-A Classic, hosted by Virginia State.

Meijer "Player of the Game" Grace Herzog (Linden, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) broke her own school record with nine blocks in the contest, adding 12 rebounds to the Cardinal cause.  Kelley Wesp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este HS) had a team-high 13 points.  Kristen Greene (Brown City, Mich.) connected on 3-of-6 from three point range to score nine points.  Cheritee Green (Wyoming Park, Mich.) had eight points and seven rebounds while Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.) also had eight points and added six boards.  

SVSU is back in action tomorrow (11/27), as it faces Elizabeth City State University at 1:00 pm in its second contest of the tournament.
