MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University pole vaulters Deven Varela and Ciera Weber competed in Central Michigan University's Jack Skoog Open on Saturday afternoon.

Varela set a new personal best mark when he won the event by clearing the bar at 4.57m. Weber won the women's pole vault with a successful clearance at 3.50m.

Varela, Weber, and the rest of the Cardinals track & field program will return to action at home in the Jet's Pizza Invitational beginning on Friday, January 26.
