Stimpfel adds CoSIDA All-American honor to outstanding senior season

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Senior CarLee Stimpfel recently closed his outstanding career for Saginaw Valley State University cross country/track & field teams with two NCAA DII All-American finishes at the 2022 Outdoor Championships.

On Wednesday, the Cass City, Mich., native picked up another award, being named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American Second Team for Cross Country/Track & Field.

The 2021-22 season for Stimpfel was highlighted by a third-place finish at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships. He was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year for men's cross country. Stimpfel took home All-American trophies for the 3k and 5k at the 2022 Indoor Championships, adding two more in the 5k and 10k at the outdoor championships.

Student-athletes are nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American awards by a CoSIDA member at their institution. CoSIDA Academic All-American voters consider both performances in competition and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominees must have been enrolled for at least one calendar year and have achieved sophomore-academic standing at the time of nomination.
