Cardinal Track & Field Welcomes Evie Kammeyer as Assistant Coach

UNIVERSITY CENTER -- Saginaw Valley State University Athletics and Track & Field and Cross Country Head Coach Rod Cowan have officially announced the addition of Evie Kammeyer as the program's new assistant coach.

Evie comes to Saginaw Valley from Buena Vista University, where she was the Assistant Track & Field / Cross Country Coach.

'"I'm grateful to John Decker, Angela Pohl, Rod Cowan, and Eric Phillips for the opportunity to join the SVSU family," said Kammeyer."Rod's vision for the program is exciting, and it's an honor to have a role in helping that vision come to fruition. I'm excited for the future of this team and can't wait to get started!"

While at Buena Vista, Kammeyer oversaw the 21 men's and women's distance runners in the program, helping lead the program to a top-12 regional finish and she guided one student-athlete to an All-Central Region performance. Under her direction, there were five new program records established and the team improved three spots in its conference finish.

Kammeyer was a student-athlete at Central College from 2014-18, where she was a national qualifier in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and a three-time All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference performer. She was a USTFCCCA All-Region student-athlete and captained the cross country team. Evie finished her collegiate career at the University of Mary, where she earned All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors and trained and raced along with the national runners-up.

Evie earned her bachelor of arts degree in biology from Central College in 2018 and her masters of science degree from the University of Mary in 2020 in kinesiology.
