Huebner, Meeks earn weekly GLIAC AOTW honors

GLIAC -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Track & Field program swept the weekly GLIAC Athlete of the Week awards, as senior Lauren Huebner and freshman Timyah Meeks earned the weekly honors.

Huebner was named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week after setting a new program record in the 400 Meters, crossing the finish line with a time of 55.92 seconds on Friday (Feb. 21) at the SVSU Tune-up Meet to win the race. That time ranks her 18th in the nation currently and it is the second-best mark in the GLIAC this season.  

Meeks earned the GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor, breaking her own program record in the weight throw, posting a distance of 62' 5" at the SVSU Tune-up Meet on Friday (Feb. 21) to best her previous mark by just over two feet. That performance has her ranked fifth in the nation and she now has the third-best distance in the GLIAC

Saginaw Valley continues competition this upcoming weekend in the 2020 GLIAC Championships, which will be hosted at Grand Valley State University.
