GLIAC -- Saginaw Valley State University senior Sam Black has been named the GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time following his performance this past weekend at the GVSU Big Meet. 

Black, who is already automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in the heptathlon, had his career-best height in the high jump. He cleared the bar at a height of 6' 11" to take first place in the event. That height has him ranked seventh in the nation, adding to his sixth-best heptathlon total of 5,394 points. 

The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday (Feb. 21), as they host the SVSU Tune-up meet in preparation for the 2020 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
