SVSU Track & Field and Cross Country Performances of the Decade - 2018

UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Saginaw Valley State University Track & Field and Cross Country programs are set to release their All-Decade Team when the new year hits. We will be releasing the top performances for each year every day until January 1 when the All-Decade Team is announced. 

Ninth on our list for 2018 and the top performances of that season for the Cardinals is Andrew Mudd and the Men's Cross Country team. Mudd, who is a native of Auburn, Michigan, was a multi athlete for the Cardinals and earned four All-American honors during his career. 

Top Performances of 2018 - Andrew Mudd & Men's Cross Country Team

Andrew Mudd earned a pair of All-American finishes. He finished 6th in the Men's Heptathlon at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships and finished as the National Runner-up in the decathlon at the outdoor championships. His Heptathlon school record still stands, which is a point total of 5,440 points.
 
The Men's cross country squad finished 6th at the NCAA national championships, which was the program's best finish since the 2005 season (5th). During the meet, Tom Goforth and CarLee Stimpfel earned All-American honors with finishes of 16th place and 26th place, respectively. The team earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic honor as well for its performance in the classroom.
