UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Saginaw Valley State University Track & Field and Cross Country programs are set to release their All-Decade Team when the new year hits. We will be releasing the top performances for each year every day until January 1 when the All-Decade Team is announced.
Eighth on our list for 2017 and the top performance of that season for the Cardinals is Joey Southgate. Southgate, who is a native of Unionville, Michigan, was a distance runner for the Cardinals. He excelled in the classroom as well, earning national USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during his career at SVSU.
Top Performance of 2017 - Joey Southgate
Joey Southgate capped a brilliant career with a 6th place in the Men's 10k at the Outdoor National Championships. Joey entered the race ranked 21st and had a stellar performance of 29:44.82 for his first All-American honor.
