Mudd, Black Sit Top-4 at NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The SVSU Track & Field team had three student-athletes compete on the opening day of the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. SVSU had Andrew Mudd and Sam Black begin their work in the decathlon while Tom Goforth ran in the 10,000 meters. 

Mudd sits in third place after the first five events with a score of 3,806 points. He collected 758 points for his 4th place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.95 meters and 849 in the 400 meters with his time of 49.25 seconds. 

Black is right behind Mudd in the fourth slot and four points behind him with a mark of 3,802 points. His 3rd place height of 1.98 meters garnered him 785 points in the high jump while his next best finish was his 4th place showing in the shot put, where he got 664 points with a distance of 12.94 meters. 

Goforth finished in 17th place in the 10,000 meter run. He crossed the finish line with a time of 32:10.11.
