NEW ORLEANS, La. - Three SVSU indoor track & field student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region honors after their respective performances at the 2017 GLIAC Indoor Championships this past weekend.

On the men's side, Sam Black and Jullane Walker earned the honor while Anna Fochesato represents the Cardinal women's squad.

Black was named all-region in the heptathlon, where he registered a runner-up finish in the league championships with a total score of 5,057. He ranks 16th in the NCAA Division II indoor qualifying list currently and has the second-best mark in the GLIAC.

Walker notched a runner-up finish himself, finishing second in the long jump at the GLIAC Championships. He registered a distance of 7.25 meters (23' 9.5") and is listed at No. 23 on the national qualifying list and has the fourth-best mark of all GLIAC athletes.

Fochesato was named all-region after her performance in the triple jump. She finished third in the league championships, totaling a distance of 11.86 meters (38' 11"). That is the 27th-best mark in the national qualifying list. She also owns the 26th-best mark of 11.89 meters, which was achieved earlier this season at the Kent State Golden Flashes Gala.

The teams will await the final national qualifying lists to see if any Cardinals will officially be invited to the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championships.
