UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The SVSU track & field teams competed on the second day of the SVSU Holiday Classic, hosted at the SVSU Fieldhouse. Both teams had some top performances in their first full event to warm-up for the 2016-17 season.  

Bria Williams advanced to the 60 Hurdles finals and would claim first place in that event, crossing the line with a time of 9.00 seconds. 

Another top spot for the women would come in the 600 meters, as Ce'Aira Richardson took first with a time of 1:35.95. She was followed in second place by teammate Paige Stepanski, who posted a mark of 1:39.36.

Alicia Tomlin and Allison Dorr took second and third place in the mile, finishing with times of 5:07.97 and 5:12.82, respectively. 

The 4 x 400 meter relay team took second place with a time of 3:58.11. On that relay squad were Lauren Huebner, Richardson, Domonique Smith and Lina Davis. Huebner would add a third place showing in the 400 meters, registering a time of 58.96. Smith would finish fourth in the 60 meters finals with a time of 7.73 while Hailey Stockford also competed in that event's finals with a time of 8.04, finishing eighth. Smith's time of 7.73 broke her own school record in the race. 

Anna Fochesato took second place in the triple jump, as she registered a distance of 11.18 meters. 

Morgan Fuerst took second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:16.77 and teammate McKenzie Smoyer was fourth with a mark of 2:22.99.

Domonique Adams was in the sixth spot for the 5,000 meter run, posting a time of 17:27.03 in a race that was ran 4,700 meters due to the lap count being off. 

For the men, Sam Black followed his solid first day of in the heptathlon with an overall title after the second day of competition. He finished first overall with a total of 4,904 points. That is good enough for an NCAA provisional showing to begin the season. 

In the 5,000 meters, the Cardinals went 1-2-3 in the finish, with Nate Frasier, Clyde Anderson and Tristan Fackelman claiming those spots. Frasier had a time of 14:47.95, Anderson went 14:57.35 and Fackelman finished with a mark of 15:17.00. 

Dalton Hollandsworth took first in the 600 meters with a mark of 1:23.40 and Jordan Wells was third with a time of 1:26.13. 

Rob Roest was third in the mile run, posting a mark of 4:27.23 while Desmond Baugh finished third in the 60 hurdles finals with a time of 8.54 after advancing from the prelims with a time of 8:58.

The 4 x 400 relay team finished in third place, crossing the line with a final time of 3:23.05. That relay team consisted of Juan Bowers, Keith Rodriguez, Travon Phillips and Carter Eckhardt. Bowers also took third in the 200 meters with a showing of 22:22 while Phillips finished fifth in the 60 meter finals with a time of 7.01. Eckhardt and Rodriguez placed fifth and eighth in the 400 meters, adding showings of 50:43 and 50:80.

Noah VanderVeeen was fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters. Brady Watson was sixth with a mark of 1.88 meters. Watson added a fourth place showing in the triple jump with a distance of 13.22 meters. 

Ryan Kelly was third in the shot put with a distance of 14.84 meters while Ben Morrow was fifth with a mark of 14.14 meters.
