Annie Bengry is currently in her second year as an assistant coach fo the SVSU Swimming & Diving programs, having joined the programs in July, 2018. 

In 2018-19, Bengry helped guide the Women to a fourth place finish at the GLIAC Championships with 383 points while the Men were sixth after scoring 220 points. There were two student-athletes who advanced to compete at the NCAA Division II Championships and Libby Caird finished 15th in the one-meter dive event to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors. There were five student-athletes who earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors and 23 student-athletes were named to the GLIAC All-Academic teams. 

Bengry comes to Saginaw Valley from Saint Leo University, where she served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Swimming teams from 2015-2018. While earning her Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Business, she helped assist in coaching multiple All-American student-athletes and guided several student athletes to national qualifying performances.

Prior to Saint Leo, Annie, a native of Marquette, MI, served as a volunteer coach for Northern Michigan University’s Women’s Swim Team while earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Science.

A former collegiate swimmer and diver, Annie also trained for three years as an Olympic weightlifter at the US Olympic Training Site at Northern Michigan University. Annie has also served as a swim coach, lifeguard, swim instructor, and aquatics assistant at the YMCA of Marquette County and the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA. She brings her extensive training knowledge and aquatic experience to Coach Zimmerman in preparing for another season.
