UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving teams hosted Wayne State University in a dual meet on Saturday from the Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center. Prior to the meet, the Cardinals honored their senior class for their contributions to the SVSU swim and dive program.
On the men's side, the Cardinals fell to the Warriors 108-97, while the women lost 137-65.
Women's Highlights:
- Libby Caird broke the school record in the women's 3-meter dive with a score of 303.10 points, winning the event. The senior was second in the 1-meter dive with 273.55 points.
- In the 100-yard individual medley, Tonya Guryeva took the victory at a time of 1:01.15. Emma Cornell was second in 1:02.14, while Kimble Darbee took third with a time of 1:02.64.
- Sydney Shipps was second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.80.
- Kylie Clark took third in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 34.16 seconds.
Men's Highlights:
- SVSU swept the diving events, as Adrien McGill won the 1-meter dive with 281.55 points, while Corbin Montpas was the winner of the 3-meter event with a score of 293.90 points.
- Christian Rottier took the victory in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 26.11.
- Arthur Marques won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.74.
- In the 50-yard backstroke, Kyle Amick was second with a time of 24.85 seconds.
- The team of Josh Rottier, Nathan Schluckebier, Zachary Rychel, and Logan Stombaugh closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.26.
