McGill, Caird sweep GLIAC Diver of the Week honors for SVSU

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving teams had a busy weekend at the Davenport University Don Kimble Invitational. Following the events of the weekend, Libby Caird was named the Women's Diver of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while Adrien McGill earned Men's Diver of the Week honors. 

Caird won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. The senior set a school record with 11 dives in the 1-meter competition and finished with a score of 454.35 points. In the 3-meter dive, Caird scored 457.50 points. The award is the third for Caird this season. 

McGill swept the diving events on the men's side. He scored 396.20 points in the 1-meter event, and 431.20 points in the 3-meter dive. It is the third time this season McGill has won both diving events in the same meet.

Both the SVSU men's and women's teams finished second in the team standings at the conclusion of the meet.

SVSU will be off until after the holiday break. The Cardinals host Wayne State University in a dual meet at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Jan. 8 from the Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center.
