BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Libby Caird competed in the finals of the 1-meter diving event at the 2021 NCAA DII Diving National Championships Thursday at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

The senior from Jenison, Mich., finished ninth among the 16 divers from across the country that qualified for the finals. In 11 dives, Caird scored 412, narrowly missing an NCAA All-American selection.

The ninth-place finish is the highest for any diver at the national meet in program history. 

Caird will continue her meet in the 3-meter event on Friday. The preliminaries start at 2 pm CST with the finals set to begin at 6 pm CST.

NOTE: The women's 1-meter event was moved to Thursday after the weather in the Birmingham area forced the postponement of the competition on Wednesday.
