Swim & Dive teams complete day two of 2019 GLIAC Championships

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- After two complete days of competition at the 2019 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships, the SVSU Women sit in fourth place and the Men are in the No. 6 spot. 

The women have racked-up 187 points after two days while the men sit with 127 points to their credit. Below are the performances the Cardinals had on Thursday in the finals rounds, accumulating some points for SVSU...

Women

  • Sydney Shipps (4th) and Alexandra Davis (5th) swam in the A finals of the 200 free, turning in times of 1:52.51 and 1:52.72. Grashuis was in the B Final of the race, finishing 15th with her mark of 1:56.78.
  • Lydia Mattar competed in the B Final of the 400 IM, finishing in 10th place after her time of 4:30.17 to earn seven points. 
  • In the 100 Fly, Kimble Darbee was 12th in the B Finals with her time of 58.83 seconds to garner five points. Sarah Thompson was 16th in the same finals section with her mark of 1:00.69.
  • Elizabeth Caird finished 6th in the 1 meter diving event with her figure of 380.90.
  • The 200 freestyle relay saw the Cards finish in 5th place with a time of 1:37.76, as Amanda Thielen, Hailey Stewart, Eric McDowell and Taylor Grashuis competed for SV.
  • In the 400 medley relay, the Cards were 4th with their time of 3:54.11. That group is Thielen, Darbee, Mattar and Shipps.

Men

  • Mason Hooker took part in the A Finals of the 100 Fly, posting a seventh place finish to garner 12 points with his mark of 49.37 seconds. Teammate Kopacki was eighth with his time of 50.06.
  • The men's 200 freestyle relay team, consisting of Dylan Kopacki, Sanders Modglin, Stephen Sterlitz and Drew Hinckley, finished 6th with their mark of 1:24.08. 
  • Jayden Hutchinson was in the B Finals of the 200 freestyle. He finished 14th with his time of 1:42.36.
  • The Men were 6th in the 400 medley relay, finishing with a time of 3:27.75 for Nick Berens, Hooker, Kopacki and Hutchinson. 

The teams are back in action for the third day of competition in Cleveland.
