UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University softball team traveled to Florida last week for The Spring Games. SVSU went 5-3 in Florida and is currently 9-5 overall. 

Junior outfielder Jackie Popko went 7-of-13 at the plate and drove in six runs during the week. Her breakout performance came against St. Cloud State University when she hit two solo home runs and helped the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory. 

For her efforts, the native of Macomb, Mich., has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week. 

SVSU faces Tiffin University in a doubleheader at 1 pm Friday in Tiffin, Ohio.
