The Saginaw Valley Softball team looks to improve upon a 2019 campaign in which the Cardinals finished fifth in the GLIAC and posted an overall record of 28-24. Head Coach Todd Buckingham returns for his eighth season at the helm and returns 12 players from last year's team.

All-GLIAC First Teamer and sophomore outfielder Jackie Popko returns to help anchor the outfield after a freshman campaign where she hit .341 with eight home runs, nine doubles, knocking-in 37 runs and stealing 18 bases. A pair of All-GLIAC Second Team selections return as well, with juniors Shelby Misiak and Blasia Moyler. Misiak hit .315 with 11 home runs, 43 RBI and had a .568 slugging percentage. Moyler led the Cardinals and the GLIAC with 15 home runs, hitting .320 with 10 doubles, a team-high 44 RBI and 14 walks. Fellow juniors Julia Salisbury, Meagan VerVaecke and sophomore Sarah Gersch return as well after hitting over .300 in 2019 to provide the Cards with a deep roster.

Anchoring the pitching staff and returning are Sophomores Julia Mundy, Jaclyn Groves and senior Mikayla Alexandrou. Mundy led the team with eight victories, a 4.14 ERA, 39 strikeouts and three saves. Groves had six wins and 36 strikeouts in her 22 appearances. Alexandrou had four wins with 30 strikeouts in her 72.1 innings.
