LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- SVSU Softball senior second baseman Meredith Rousse has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region First Team for the 2018 season. Having earned the first team honor, Rousse will now be eligible for all-american consideration from the NFCA.
Rousse, who recently earned All-GLIAC First Team honors for the second straight year, makes it two straight years of earning an all-region honor as well. She is the First Team second baseman on the 2018 Midwest Region squad. In 2017, she was named to the D2CCA and NFCA All-Midwest Region Second Teams.
The Bay City, Michigan native is currently hitting .364 in her final campaign and has matched her career-highs in home runs (8) and doubles (17) that she set in 2017. She has matched her career-best number of 36 RBI as well, achieving that amount in her sophomore 2016 season as well. Rousse has 14 stolen bases and 18 walks while posting an on-base percentage of .423 and a slugging mark of .608.
Rousse is the program's all-time leader with her 48 doubles and ranks inside the top-10 in nine total categories. She is near the top in at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, runs, steals, RBI, walks and batting average.
The Cardinals will play in their second straight NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament, which begins on Thursday (May 10) with a game against The University of Illinois-Springfield.
