Mouthaan Powers Cardinals to DH Sweep at Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The SVSU Softball team posted a GLIAC doubleheader sweep at Tiffin University on Friday (Apr. 27) afternoon in Ohio. The Cardinals were led by Aubree Mouthaan, who registered four home runs on the day with eight RBI in securing victories of 8-2 and 8-0 (5 inn.).

Game 1

After scoring a run in the first three innings, SVSU led 3-0. The runs came via RBI from Courtney Reeves and Danielle Hamilton, as well as a solo home run from Mouthaan.

Mouthaan's second long ball and second straight of the game came in the 5th, pushing the visitor lead to 4-2 after the Dragons scored runs in the 3rd and 4th.

The final four runs came in the top of the 7th, as Hamilton and Corbett had RBI for the Cards. Mouthaan delivered once again in that inning, going deep for the third straight time and getting two more RBI to put the lead at 8-2. That would prove to be the game's final.

Game 2

Mouthaan kept it rolling for SVSU in the second game, using a bases-loaded opportunity to bring everybody home on a grand slam with her fourth straight home run. An RBI single from Blasia Moyler shortly after made the count 5-0 in the top of the 1st.

The team's other three runs came in the top of the 4th to make the lead 8-0. Shelby Misiak had a two-RBI single and Maddy Burgess added an RBI single of her own for the runs.

Mouthaan had four RBI with a pair of runs and a walk in the game. Hamilton and Meredith Rousse each added a pair of hits, as did Moyler and Burgess with an RBI-apiece. Misiak had a hit and two RBI.

Anna Conard picked up the win, tossing 4.0 innings with no hits allowed and a strikeout. It marks her 11th victory of the season.
