SVSU sweeps Concordia in non-conference doubleheader

UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The SVSU softball team hosted Concordia University Ann Arbor on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader. Battling some tough, windy conditions, the Cards posted 3-2 and 6-3 wins over their opponents, improving to 24-9 overall on the season.

Game One

Saginaw Valley got on the board in the bottom half of the 1st, using an Evy Lobdell sacrifice fly that scored Danielle Hamilton for the 1-0 lead.

In the top of the 3rd, Concordia notched a pair of runs to take a 2-1 edge over the home squad.

A Meredith Rousse RBI double to center knotted the score in response in the home half of the 3rd inning, making the count 2-2.

The game-winning run would come in the 5th for SVSU, as pinch-hitter Anna Conard ripped an RBI single to left center, pushing Rousse across for what would be the eventual game-winning run at 3-2.
