CLERMONT, Fla. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team fell twice on its spring trip in Florida on Friday (Mar. 6) afternoon. The Cardinals lost a 9-1 contest to the #21-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds before falling to the Truman State University Bulldogs, 11-0.
Game One | Indianapolis
The Greyhounds took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, serving as the game's home team.
SVSU responded with a single run in the top of the 2nd, as two singles, as walk and a wild pitch allowed Marcy Medina to score and cut the deficit to 2-1.
That would be the last hit and run the Cards would score and Indy added runs in the next four innings and eventually closed-out for a 9-1 five-inning victory.
Medina and Amanda Best had the only two hits for SV while the Hounds notched 12 hits.
Game Two | Truman State
Saginaw Valley couldn't get much else going in the second contest of the day, recording just three hits against the Bulldogs' Kindra Hinze.
Truman State scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning, three in the 3rd and went off for a six-spot in the 4th inning. The Bulldogs would finish with an 11-0 win.
Medina and Best added another hit in the second game, with Meredith Rousse getting the other base-knock.
Saginaw Valley is back at it tomorrow, as the Cards play Lewis University at 9:00 am before taking-on Southern New Hampshire in a 1:00 pm contest and Florida Tech at 4:00 pm.
