Cardinals Drop Tourney Finale to Tritons

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team fell in its final game of the 2015 Lewis University Flyer Dome Invitational to the University of Missouri-St. Louis by a score of 10-2 on Sunday (Feb. 22) morning.

Mackenzie Rousse got the ladies on the board in the top of the first inning, drilling a solo homerun to give the Cards a 1-0 lead.

The Tritons knotted the score at 1-1 in the bottom half of the first and added seven unanswered runs the next four innings to grab an 8-1 edge.

SVSU added another run in the fifth inning to make the score 8-2, as Marcy Medina scored on a hit by DeAnna Stickler-Gatson.

UMSL responded with a pair of runs in its half of the sixth inning, sealing the 10-2 win.

SV falls to 2-3 overall on the young season and returns to action on Saturday, February 28th in its opening day at the NTC Games in Clermont, Florida.  The Lady Cardinals open play against Notre Dame College (1:00 pm) Felician College (3:00 pm)
