SVSU Drops Final Two Games at Rebel Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team fell in their final two contests at the 2013 Rebel Spring Games.  They would drop game one to St. Cloud State by a score of 5-3, before falling in game two, 12-2.

The Cardinals would fall behind St. Cloud State by a score of 2-0 after two innings of play and the game would stay that way until the fifth inning.  SVSU would put together a rally in the fifth, scoring three runs on three hits.  The big blow would come off the bat of Jordan Randall (Clinton Twp., Mich.) who drove home Kailah Happ (Waterford, Mich./Kettering HS) and Samantha Sutton (Armada, Mich.) for a 3-2 advantage.  

The Huskies would strike with three runs in the bottom of the sixth as they would go on to the 5-3 victory.

Game Two vs Minnesota State - Moorhead - Box Score
Saginaw Valley would find itself in a big hole after the first half inning of play as the Dragons blazed out to a 9-0 lead.  SVSU would rally for two runs in the bottom half of the inning when Sutton and Kaitlyn McBride (Brampton, Ont. / St. Thomas Aquinas HS) scored on an Amanda Kimes (Caledonia) rope to right center.

Minnesota State would score three more runs over the next two innings to go up by a 12-2 count and force a fifth inning run rule.

Saginaw Valley finished it spring trip with a 4-10 record overall and will now return to Michigan tand will host Concordia College on March 16.
