Men's Track Competes at Azusa and GVSU

AZUSA, Calif. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's track & field student-athletes competed in a pair of events, one at the 2014 Bryan Clay Invitational, which was held at Cougar Stadium on the Azusa Pacific University campus.

Highlighting the SVSU men's results were senior track & field student-athletes Joey Burelle and Gareth Gose.

Burelle, a veteran runner of the event, ran in the second section of the men's 5,000 meter run and crossed the line with a time of 14:55. That mark shaved off 18 seconds from his finish at this event last year.

Gose, who ran at Cougar Stadium last year but in a different event, competed in the third section of the men's 5,000 meter run and clocked a fourth place finish with a time of 15:20.
The SVSU men's track and field team also completed the field events in the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.

The Saginaw Valley men's track & field team finished the field events in third place with a score of 12 points. Eleven total teams competed at the event.

The top Cardinal performers were Robert Tarpley and Brady Watson. Both men participated in the men's triple jump event, with Tarpley finishing second with a distance of 14.17 meters and Watson finishing fifth with a top jump of 13.22 meters.
