HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's track and field team competed at the two-day Hillsdale College Invite on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8).
Freshman Andrew Mudd placed 5th in the heptathlon for the Cardinals, scoring a total of 4530 points. Mudd also joined with James Walker, Andrew Middleton, and Travis Toye in the 4X400 meter relay to pick up a 7th place finish in a time of 3:32.25.
Competing in the 60 meter hurdles and picking up a 5th place finish was D'Omar Boyden, who crossed the finish line in 8.33 seconds.
Tony Peel represented well for Saginaw Valley in distance, grabbing a 9th place finish in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:46.93. Joey Burelle also competed in the 5,000 meter run and placed 8th with a time of 15:11.87.
Teaming up in the distance medley were Toye, Middleton, DaJuawn Wallace, Burelle who finished at the 10:21.20 mark, good enough for a 4th place finish. Toye also competed in the 800 meter run and was able to pick up 8th place in 1:56.43.
Robert Tarpley faired well in both the long jump and the triple jump, leaping 6.33 meters in the long jump for a 12th a place finish and 13.04 meters in the triple jump, landing him in 7th place.
The Cardinals will return to action next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15) when they travel to Bloomington, Ind. to compete at the Hoosier Hills Invitational.
