Cardinals Host Holiday Classic

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's track & field team hosted its season-opening Holiday Classic on Friday afternoon (Dec. 6), which was hosted in O'Neill Arena on the campus of SVSU.

SVSU sophomore D'Omar Boyden was runner-up in the 60 meter hurdles, posting an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 8.31.

Freshman Andrew Mudd finished second in the pole vault, vaulting to a height of 3.51 meters.  Mudd also posted a runner-up finish in the long jump with a length of 6.54 meters.

The men's 4x400 relay team of Mudd, fellow freshman Andrew Middleton and seniors James and Justin Walker had a second place finish with a time of 3:31.13.

James Walker added a top finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.40.

The Cardinals swept the top three times in the mile run as well, as senior Joey Burelle led the way with a time of 4:25.34 while Nate Cruz and Jalen Payne finished with times of 4:27.94 and 4:37.19, respectively.

The Cardinals are back in action after the holiday break, as they host the 'Doug Hansen" Open on January 17th at 3:00 pm.
