BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University men's track & field athlete Tony Filipek (Caro, Mich./Kingston HS) has been selected as the GLIAC Men's Track "Athlete of the Week", it was announced by the league office.
Filipek posted a first-place finish in the 800-meter run at the MSU Spartan Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 3). He crossed the line with a time of 1:50.48, besting Michigan State's Shane Knoll by more than two seconds. It was the first event of the spring for the Cardinals and Filipek, who earned All-American status after a fourth place finish in the 800 at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Meet.
