SVSU Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff Named NCAA Division II Midwest Region Staff of the Year

KANSAS CITY – The Saginaw Valley State University, men's soccer coaching staff, was named the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches. The award was a result of a vote by other coaches in the Midwest region who are members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services program.

"It is a massive honor to be recognized as regional staff of the year," said SVSU head men's soccer coach Louis Barrow. "My young staff has been fantastic this year, and I am so proud of them. But, ultimately, we have the lads on the team to thank. They are the ones that go out every day and work tirelessly. We are happy but not satisfied, and we are excited to get back at it for the coming season."

Barrow and his staff led the Cardinals to the first-ever undefeated season in program history. The program has collected numerous individual awards, with Jonathan Monney being named first-team NCAA DII CCA All-American and Benjamin Adamson earning third-team honors from the DII CCA. Four players, including Monney and Adamson, were on the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region team announced earlier this week. Nine team members were given Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors this year, including Monney being named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year.

The SVSU coaching staff will now advance to the National Staff of the Year Ballot. Voting will take place this month, and the winner will be announced on December 16, 2022.

The presentation of the staff of the Year plaque will take place at the College Coaches Reception during the convention in Philadelphia on Thursday, January 12, 2023.
