Adamson, Baker, Bruce earn Coaches All-Region Awards

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Three members of the Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII All-Region honors for the 2021 season.

Benjamin Adamson took All-Region First Team defender honors for the Cardinals. The freshman from Hull, England was a key contributor in seven shutouts for SVSU in 2021 and led the Cardinals defense that allowed just 0.74 goals per game. He added two goals and two assists on the offensive end. Adamson adds the award to his list of accolades in 2021 that includes two GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors and All-GLIAC First Team.

Robbie Bruce was named to the All-Region Second Team for SVSU after a stellar senior season. He scored four goals, including the overtime game-winner against Northern Michigan University in the GLIAC Quarterfinals, while adding six assists. The Cullen, Scotland, native was also named to the All-GLIAC First Team.

Robbie Baker, from Brisbane, Australia, joined Adamson on the impressive backline for the Cardinals in 2021 and was named to the All-Region Second Team. While playing lockdown defense for SVSU all season, Baker added three goals and two assists on the other end for the Cardinals. Earlier this season, Baker was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and the All-GLIAC Second Team.

The Cardinals closed the 2021 season with a record of 10-5-5.
