Gloshen, Baker named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The College Sports Information Directors of America announced the 2021 NCAA DII Men's Soccer All-American Teams on Tuesday, with two members of the Saginaw Valley State University team among the honorees.

Alex Gloshen was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team, while Robbie Baker was voted to the Third Team for the Cardinals. The awards are the first for both Gloshen and Baker.

Student-athletes are nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American awards by a CoSIDA member at their institution. Unlike other academic honors, CoSIDA Academic All-American voters consider both performances in competition and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominees must have been enrolled for at least one calendar year and have achieved sophomore-academic standing at the time of nomination.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, career stats were considered for the 2020-21 CoSIDA awards.

Gloshen started all nine games for the Cardinals in 2021, scoring two goals, including a game-winner, and added two assists. He has 13 career goals, along with 15 assists in 62 total games.

Baker helped lead SVSU's stifling defense in 2021 and was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. He also added the first goal of his career, playing in six games.
