UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team rolled through the regular season and the first round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a perfect record of 8-0-0.
SVSU is now set to host the semifinals and finals of the GLIAC tournament. The No. 1 seed Cardinals will take on No. 5 Ashland University at 1 pm Friday at Braddock Field, followed by No. 2 seed the University of Wisconsin Parkside matching up against No. 6 Davenport University at 4 pm.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for us to play on our home field and having our fans here," SVSU Head Coach Louis Barrow said. "It's a reward for having such a good season so far and the team is really excited for it."
The Cardinals faced Ashland earlier this season on the road in Ohio, taking a thrilling overtime 1-0 win over the Eagles. SVSU outshot Ashland 24-4 but were unable to breakthrough until a Brady Walker goal in the 95th minute, one of four overtime winners for the Cardinals this season.
"Ashland always seems to beat teams that you don't expect them to," Barrow said. "You know every game you play against them is going to be a grind. This time of the year, every year, they seem to beat teams with a higher seed."
SVSU earned regular-season wins over the other two remaining teams in the field. The Cardinals topped Parkside 4-2 on the road on March 14 and captured a 1-0 win in double overtime over Davenport at home on April 3.
The Cardinal offense has been led this season by Danny Barlow, who is in his first season with SVSU since transferring from the University of Denver. He has a team-high 10 goals, including five in his last two games.
The SVSU defense has been solid all season, allowing just six goals. Mason Maziasz has four shutouts, allowing just 0.75 goals per game in net for the Cardinals.
The semifinal winners will move on to the GLIAC Tournament Final at noon on Sunday at Braddock Field.
