Game-Winner lifts Walker to GLIAC honor

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team won another thrilling overtime game, topping Ashland University on the road 1-0 on Sunday.

Brady Walker jumped up from his defensive position to score the game-winning goal in the 95th minute, securing the victory and keeping SVSU's record perfect for the season at 4-0-0. The No. 23 Cardinals are at the top of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings as the lone undefeated team.

Walker, from Hartland, Mich., played a vital role in keeping the clean sheet for the Cardinals against Ashland, and for his efforts, he has been named the latest GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Walker is the third Cardinal to win a weekly award in the four weeks since the season started, joining teammates Danny Barlow (offensive) and Mason Maziasz (defensive).

The Cardinals return home to host Davenport University at 4 pm Saturday at Braddock Field.
