Omar Sinclair Named United Soccer Coaches All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- SVSU Men's Soccer senior defender Omar Sinclair has rounded-out his playing career for the Cardinals with yet another honor, this time being named an all-american after a great 2018 campaign for SVSU.  

The native of Manchester, England has been named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-America Third Team as a defender. It wraps-up a stellar career for the SVSU Cardinals as a four-year starter on the back line. He is the seventh player in the history of the program to garner an all-american honor for the Cardinals. 

Sinclair was named the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Year and named an All-GLIAC First Team honoree for the second straight season. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches and D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Teams this season as well and earned all-midwest region recognition twice in 2017. 

Omar played in 73 matches for the Cardinals in his four years, starting 70 of them. He helped lead Saginaw Valley to four straight appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament, including a run to the NCAA Round of 16 this season. The team racked-up an impressive record of 54-16-10 during his career and claimed the 2016 and 2018 GLIAC regular season championships.
