GLIAC -- Saginaw Valley State University freshman midfielder Joe Wright has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Cardinals to a pair of solid results over the weekend.

Wright played a huge part defensively in the Cardinals going 1-0-1 against top opponents. SVSU played to a 0-0 double overtime draw against the No. 1 team in the country, Charleston, before pulling out a 2-1 win in double overtime over Alderson Broaddus playing a man down for most of the match. 

The Cardinals return to the field Friday (Sep. 7), playing Lewis at Davenport University in a 5:00 p.m. match before hosting Tiffin on Sunday (Sep. 9) in a 2:30 p.m. contest.
