UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University
men’s soccer team lost to Urbana University, 3-2 today (Oct.
16).
The Cardinals took an early lead at the five minute mark when
junior Anthony Palazzolo
(Warren, Mich. / Western Mich. / Hope) scored on assists from Zachary Myers
(Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forrest Hills Eastern HS) and Kevin Fox (Flushing,
Mich.). Just minutes later freshman Robert Short
(Goodrich, Mich.) scored his second goal of the season to give
Saginaw Valley a 2-0 lead. Urbana would score a goal to make the
score 2-1 going into the half. The Cardinals would remain scoreless
in the second half, while Urbana would add two more goals to make
the score 3-2.
With the loss Saginaw Valley fall to 4-9-2 overall on the season,
while Urbana improves to 3-9-1 overall on the season. The Cardinals
will return to action on Sunday (Oct. 18) when they will travel to
Ashland University at 2:30pm.
